Modifying Citadel of Evil For Old School Space Based Gaming

Last night I got a call from a friend to run a one shot space based dungeon. I was already reading through Citadel.  Whole situation became a family of colonists have been taken to a failed colony. The Citadel became the old colony headquarters and since some areas are finished and others are not the whole thing became a quick snap in Stars Without Number. The elements are easily adaptable and the encounters were quickly filled in where necessary. The map was solid and easy to work with and the players had a damn good time dealing with the old school OD&D elements. The monsters were pretty generic but original enough to warrant caution on the part of the PCs. Blaster fire in certain areas isn't always a good idea in this one. A dead PC and the players became much more cautious.  The whole adventure ran like a 70's or 80's cheestacular movie. The players are hungry for more. The Citadel of Evil From Robertson Games accomplished the job easily.

  1. Nice. I'm really enjoy modifying existing fantasy adventures into other genres.

  2. Thanks for the comment!
I'll be doing more of this sort of thing coming up over the next couple of weeks as my players begin to explore. I've been surprised at the response with these. I'll be using a couple of existing adventures and modifying them for use in a science fantasy & science fictional environment. Feel free explore.
