Warning From The Sky - A Mutant Future Encounter Or an Encounter For Any Old School Post Apocalyptic Campaign

File:View of Bear Meadows, Pennsylvania in Rothrock State Forest from the northwest.JPG

Set Up
Recently something has crash landed in the back woods of Pennsylvania from the sky and now woodland communities throughout the woodland ruins of the former state are going missing. The entire Mutant Underground Railroad has been thrown into a panic as rumors of a brand new unknown mutant species have surfaced.
They will contact the adventurers through their agent Eddie a reptile like mutant who is both excited and very nervous.
The Black Knights that league of anti mutant haters in their artifact power armor have begun to investigate and terrorize local communities as brethren and  brother alike are going missing. There is a full compliment of knights on riding dogs and light power armor in the area. 1d4 knights in light power plate armor will be encountered and they will be hostile and very nervous. Each one is at least a 2nd level fighter armed with a laser pistol or rifle as well. These weapons will be drawing power from the armor's power source. They are men who seem both haunted and hunted. They have lost fifteen brothers in all of the incidents. The Black Knights seem almost targeted but why is unknown.
The Strangers a brand new super science group has recently come about after unearthing a hidden bunker deep in the woodlands of the Pennsylvanian  countryside. And have begun to spread among the populace offering their services.
The Strangers are a weird monastic like order of beings who heal the sick of radiation poisoning, cure many of the more common cancers, and offer the removal of debilitating mutations. They often take a simple genetic sample from their clients as payment.
They are offering a reward for this cat like strange animal humanoid that's been seen at the sight of these occurrences. The Strangers  are offering a reward of a major artifact and the healing services of the organization  for 1d10 months.
There have been rumors of villages where the sun has gone dark at noon and the communities are enveloped in darkness. Corpses of villagers are found after the fact and these incidents are spreading.
The Coming Of The Silent
A quick investigation of the villages where these incidents have occurred will reveal places where a sadness seems to hang in the very air and any psychic abilities employed will reveal a trail of negativity and a contempt for life in the area. Its source however will remain obscure at best.
Within the last four weeks there have been more then 15 incidents and they show a pattern. The Black Knights have recently unearthed an artifact that has called the Silent to the back woodlands of Pennsylvania and they are killing all who witnessed something at a hidden former military base. The Black Knights are paying in blood and all around them are being murdered. The Silent are feeding and feeding well in these back woods.
But they are not the only ones who were called. The PC's are likely to run into these horrors at anytime but they have gained the ability to project a mysterious cloud of darkness that will blot out any light in the area that they target for 1d4 miles. Nothing will penetrate this darkness except certain mutations and special super science light generating artifacts. The Silent will try to murder and feed upon any PC's that they can.

The finding of this artifact at the former military base tripped off several warnings far out in the solar system around the moons of Jupiter and sent a signal to a remote observation station of the Outer Colonies. A pair of very special non human creatures was sent to investigate in an ion drive shuttle craft. The craft ran into trouble as soon as it entered deep Earth orbit. Orbital debris around the Earth crippled the shuttle. The mated and bonded pair of Sohinxian Treecats were able to safely crash their craft in the back woods of Pennsylvania. They were able to find the Outer Colony military base mostly intact and use this location to investigate the area. It is they who are actually behind the creation of the Strangers and use their vast network of spies to search for incidents of the Silent. The Silent have a hatred of the Sphinxians because of past encounters. Murr'rra And Syonn are the mated pair that have been hunting the Silent  throughout the woodland incidents. They will offer add and services through the Strangers but will not approach the PC's unless they have no choice. They may offer the PC's the locations of three choice looting areas if they help stop the menace of the 'Silent'. Then again they may not.
The Outer Colony worlds around Jupiter and Saturn remain a bit an enigma to the people of Earth remembered in story and legend. Why are the Strangers collecting the genetic information on their clients. Why have the colonies waited so long to contact Earth and what events led to their learning about the 'Silent'. Where are the colonists now and why did they abandon Earth in the first place. Only you and the PC's may answer these questions.
